Digos Massacre:Seeking for Justice

June 25, 1989, while inside a village chapel attending a Sunday service, about 40 men, women, and children were mercilessly murdered by some 120 armed Maoist communist terrorists New Peoples Army (NPA) led by Amado Payot, aka Benzar. Using M-60 machineguns and armalite rifles. The incident happened in Binaton, Digos City, Davao del Sur.

The majority does not support Communism. Unfortunately many young Filipinos vote for their political partylists "fronts" during elections mainly because they don't know. Many also lack interests in history and on whose who and simply because of these groups' popularity in mainstream media. But basically Filipinos easily jump on the bandwagon, especially if there are words like "freedom", "the people", "democracy" attached to it.

Actually people that don't believe in the concept of divine punishment, can do horrible things to fellow human beings, those who purported to adhere to free thinking and the concept of natural laws, be careful for what they speak break the bounds and preparing your mind to accept, their beliefs and views which history abhors. Knowledge of the divine makes us humane. Greed and personal ambitions relative to norms brings only one thing pain.

Digos City (Cebuano: Dakbayan sa Digos/Siyudad sa Digos; Tagalog: Lungsod ng Digos) is an affluent suburban city in the province of Davao del Sur, Philippines. The city strategically lies on the eastern shores of Davao Gulf and southern foothills of Mt. Apo in the island of Mindanao and it is the center city between the two major cities in Mindanao, Davao City and General Santos City . It serves as the seat of the Provincial Government.

Our mango industry supports some 2.5 million farmers and farm family members.
Tagged as "sure export winner", there is a projected export increase at 13% annually. It is exported in its fresh or processed form. Mango is known for its versatility as all stages of fruit development is suitable for processing. The unripe or immature fruits can be processed into hot or sweet pickles while the ripe ones can be prepared as slices in syrup or in brine, mango juice, concentrate and puree, jam, chutneys, pulp fruit bar, mango wafer, mango powder, dehydrated mango slices, mango milk powder, and vermicelli. Pomelo Pride in Davao City

 

From Davao Pomelo fruit looks like a Melon of some kind. The skin is surprisingly soft, and relatively easy to peel. Inside The Philippines version of the Pomelo looks like a giant pink grapefruit just like a Melon.
Only it’s not bitter at all. Pomelo tastes like a sweet, mild grapefruit (which is itself a hybrid of the pomelo and the orange), though the typical pomelo is much larger in size than the grapefruit. It has very little, or none, of the common grapefruit's bitterness, but the enveloping membranous material around the segments is bitter, considered inedible, and thus usually is discarded.Actually the taste is certainly a part of the citrus family, but the sweet kind. Pomelo fruit segments are large, and break easily. But unlike its cousins the Pomelo segments stay intact.


Within each segment are strong pulpy cells that contain the sweet citrus like flesh. It makes The Filipino Pomelo is a very easy fruit to eat. Although a little large for just one person.
Filipinos eat the Pomelo fruit with salt. But without salt it tastes just great. A really good fruit to take on hikes or treks due to it’s high level of water, and ability to travel well.

What is mangosteen?

Brand Names: XanGo, Thai-Go, Mangosteen Plus, Mango-xan

Mangosteen is a tropical fruit that is grown primarily in hot, humid climates of southeast Asia such as Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, and Indonesia.

Mangosteen is a dark purple fruit about 2 to 3 inches in diameter – the size of a small peach or apple. Mangosteens are unrelated to mangoes.

Instead of peeling it like an orange, a mangosteen is typically opened by pressing firmly or twisting the outside until it breaks apart.

The hard rind can be nearly one inch thick. At the center is the soft opaque white fruit, which resembles a head of garlic but tastes slightly sweet and tart.

In North America, fresh mangosteens can be found in Canada and Hawaii but they cannot legally be imported into continental United States due to concerns that they transport insects into the country.

What are the side effects of mangosteen?

Research indicates that xanthones may interfere with normal blood-clotting. It's not known whether mangosteen xanthones may interact with blood-thinning medication such as warfarin and possibly lead to bleeding.

Studies suggest that higher doses of xanthones may depress the central nervous system in animals and cause sedation.

Xanthones may cause excess sedation when combined with other herbs or medication, and it may be toxic at higher doses. Human studies have not been conducted.

The Durian  is the  one fruit of several tree species belonging to the genus Durio and the Malvaceae family (although some taxonomists place Durio in a distinct family, Durionaceae. Widely known and revered in southeast Asia as the "king of fruits", the durian is distinctive for its large size, unique odour, and formidable thorn-covered husk.

The fruit can grow as large as 30 centimeters (12 -15in) long and 15 centimeters (6 -10n) in diameter, and it typically weighs one to three kilograms (1 to 7 lb). Its shape ranges from sphere to round, the color of its husk green to light yellow to brown, and its flesh pale yellow to red, depending on the species.

The savory  flesh emits a distinctive odor, strong penetrating even  though it when the husk is intact. Some people regard the durian as fragrants; others find the aroma stink and offensive. The smell evokes reactions from deep appreciation to intense disgust, and has been described variously as almonds, rotten onions, turpentine and gym socks. The odour has led to the fruit's ostracism from certain hotels and public transportation in southeast Asia.

The durian, native to Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia,Thailand,Guam and Philippines has been known to the Western world for about 600 years. The 19th-century British naturalist Alfred Russel Wallace famously described its flesh as "a rich custard highly flavored with almonds". The flesh can be consumed at various stages of ripeness, and it is used to flavor a wide variety of savory and sweet edibles in Southeast Asian cuisines.
