Crisis Intervention and Hunger Mitigation Program: DAVAO CITY

OPLAN KALINGA (CARE) is a Crisis Intervention and Hunger Mitigation Program that was commenced by Congressman Karlo Nograles in 2005 since less fortunate families are most prone to crisis situations. Oplan Kalinga started as a partnership between the First Congressional District Office and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) under the Congressional Financial Assistance Program (CFAP). Through this Program, poverty-stricken families in crisis situations could avail of an Emergency Financial Support to be approved by Congressman Karlo Nograles and drawn from the Nograles Congressional Fund at the DSWD office. Crisis situations include immediate assistance for hospitalization expenses, medicines, clothing, shelter, food and even burial expenses. Included also in the list of recipients are families evacuated by fire, floods, monsoon waves, eviction and demolition.
