Piri Piri is the name given to the “African bird's eye chili” which was discovered by Portuguese explorers in Africa. Other English language spellings may include pili pili in the Democratic Republic of the Congo or peri peri, deriving from the various pronunciations of the word in parts of Africa. It is this fiery little spice which gives flavour and fire to their chicken.

Peri Peri Charcoal Chicken is a new polished casual style restaurant that is famous for its Portuguese style grilled chicken. The popular and well loved grilled chicken comes with its signature hot pepper sauces that mainly use the African bird’s eye chili called Peri-Peri. The restaurant boasts a diverse menu offering grilled specialties like Texas style ribs, thick and tender saucy chops, and grilled shrimp skewers. Other winning dishes are the Shrimp Diablo appetizer that is crispy, spicy and creamy; the taco platters; Mango and Salmon cream pasta; Wild Chicken wings; and the huge chicken and ribs family platter good for big groups.
Portuguese treat, peri-peri chicken is now within the reach of Davaoeños.

Peri-peri Charcoal Chicken, which specializes in chicken marinated in chilli with oil, salt, lemon or lime opened its doors to the Davao taste buds last March 22 at the Ground Floor of SM City Davao’s new building, The Annex.

Peri-peri promises a unique experience of a “gradual feeling of heat in the mouth”.Each whole chicken is “butterflied”, marinated and cooked in a rotisserie grill to allow the special mixture of chilli and spices in the peri-peri marinade to fully infuse into the chicken.Non-fans of spicy food may prefer a lemon and garlic peri-peri marinade or the mild peri-peri marinade, for a little chilli kick. Hard core chilli fans can go for the hot marinade for a full peri-peri flavor!Try Peri-peri for experciencing the fabuloues taste ever!

Sink your teeth in a peri-peri chicken or delight you mouth with rappas, pizza, pasta, fajitas, quesadillas and other Portuguese-inspired dishes! Visit Peri-peri Charcoal Chicken at the City’s hippest hub, The Annex!
